- Follow your meal plan.
- Don't skip meals, especially if you take diabetes medicine, because your blood glucose may go too low. It may be better to eat several small meals during the day instead of one or two big meals
- See your doctor before starting a physical activity programme.
Keep a daily record of
- your blood glucose numbers
- the times of the day you took your diabetes pills
- your physical activity
- Tell your doctor if you have hypoglycaemia often, especially at the same time of the day or night several times in a row.
- Be sure to tell your doctor about other medicines you are taking.
- Some diabetes pills can cause hypoglycaemia. Ask your doctor whether your pills can cause hypoglycaemia.
- Take your diabetes pills, even if you've been throwing up.
